«Workplace culture is about the values that persist in an organisation and are collectively shaped or further developed»

Hey Glenn, what do you do at Great Place to Work®

I am the Marketing Assistant at Great Place to Work. I'm responsible for the design of graphic materials and help out the marketing team from time to time.

How and when did you come to Great Place to Work?

I joined Great Place to Work in late summer 2019 following a job advertisement on a study portal. The vacancy made me curious, as Great Place to Work looked like a very open and fun company to work at.

And does the name of the company keep its promise? ;)

Definitely! I have never been employed in a company where I feel so comfortable and am given so much freedom.

"For me, a Great Place to Work is a place  with a pleasant working atmosphere,

"

What makes an employer a Great Place to Work for you?

I could probably give you an endless list. For me personally, a Great Place to Work is first and foremost a place where there is a pleasant working atmosphere, where I can always learn new things and develop myself, and where the organisational objectives and values strongly correspond to my own, so that in the end the work doesn't feel like "work" at all, but perhaps more like a hobby (which I pursue out of intrinsic motivation).

A Great Place to Work has a lot to do with workplace culture. What does workplace culture mean to you?

Workplace culture, in my opinion, stands for the cultural values that exist in an organisation and are shaped, or developed, together.

Why should companies concern themselves with their workplace culture?

I believe it is in the interest of every organisation to take a close look at its workplace culture. A positive workplace culture, in my opinion, sets the foundation for motivated employees and, by extension, the success of any organisation.

What is your contribution to a better workplace culture?

Through my work with Great Place to Work, I hope to motivate as many employers as possible to look into the topic of workplace culture. My main aim is that every person has the opportunity to do a job that makes them happy and fulfils them. And this starts with more people - especially employers - taking a critical look at this issue.

What makes you an expert on workplace culture?

Since I deal with the topic of workplace culture on a daily basis through my work at Great Place to Work, I have already been able to build up in-depth knowledge in my still short time at Great Place to Work. In addition, the principles communicated to the outside world are also lived out in the company, which gives me a "first-hand experience" of what makes a good workplace culture and how it can be developed proactively and sustainably.
